These first pair of jeans were straight legged. I decided to turn them into skinny jeans. What you really want to be aware of though when you turn your jeans into skinny jeans is if the denim is stretchy. Mine weren't and I ended up making them a little too skinny, the knees were the worst part, so i took rectangular pieces of denim from some scraps, cut slits in the knees, sewed around the slits, and hand sewed the rectangles on, like patches, but they gave my grateful knees more room. The tears also ended up looking kind of cool too. My hand is poofing it out.
Next is just an old pair of jeans i paint splattered with acrylic paint and a bleach pen, i know acrylic isn't the best but it's what i had. I wish this picture displayed it better (my camera is kind of crappy), but i used lime green, black and silver.
I decided to look in my closet for things to improve. Some of my ideas I gained and kind of amped up from some you tube videos, and some I just thought of. In this blog, I will tell you how I created them, in a short desc.
I was thinking of this idea and how I wanted the sides to sort of pop out, so i made a template. I first tried it on the back of a re-sized t-shirt with just one square and really liked it.
I used a washable marker and made an outline sort of like this and cut along the lines. I then took tiny strips of knit fabric and tied them around the corners.(the design is on the back)
Then I decided to take to the design up a notch and do a smaller checkerboard on another one of my shirts.(also on the back)
So i made about 20 or 30 of these templates about 2"and 2 centimeters wide squares. I cut out 1 centimeter square out of each corner, placed and marked etc.

This shirt actually wasn't my original idea, i got the design from this a Youtube video:
That snagged part was from a chair i was taking of a table.
This was kind of a mash-up, used a bleach, pen, paper guitar template, a sharpie, and some embroidery thread....look closely.
These are my next two projects. I went to the local thrift store and picked out a t shirt in every color of the rainbow, i cut the bottoms off (because i found it convenient that they were already hemmed) and made this gathered skirt. The picture quality isn't great, it's much brighter in person.
This 2nd idea just sprung into my head too. I cut the serged/overlocked seams off the scrapped t-shirts, layed them out into a heart design and sewed them on one by one onto a tank top.
Also, here is a shirt i painted with fabric paint.
